Biodesign bridges the gap between people and the planet, going beyond traditional boundaries. While Biodesign is often taught in formal settings, we believe in a community-based approach that brings this knowledge to everyone. By integrating Biodesign into informal educational and community settings, we make it accessible and encourage participation. Nature-based technologies, which use living biological systems, must be locally adapted. Each unique biome requires localized co-creation.

Innovative solutions for scarce resources

BIOPOD is our solution: a framework to democratize the creation of modular wetland ecosystems. This system fosters hyper-local supply chains and social networks. Biopods are human-scale, modular, bio-based creations that enhance biodiversity and provide vital ecosystem services. These include managing stormwater, mitigating floods, regenerating habitats, and promoting urban rewilding for the benefit of both humans and wildlife.

Our BIOPOD system transforms individual modules into a broader rewilding infrastructure. It supports innovation and decentralized production, encouraging knowledge sharing across generations. Activities are designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of their prior knowledge, while also offering opportunities for advanced learning.

Our beliefs

Biopods bring together diverse communities and disciplines at environmental sites, breaking down barriers. Our inaugural launch in Providence, Rhode Island, in 2023, demonstrated how biopods foster collaboration, guided by equity from start to finish. The adaptable BIOPOD system is more than an environmental solution—it’s a tool for positive social change.
